Atom is being sunset to focus on enhancing the developer experience in the cloud with GitHub Codespaces. Atom has not had significant feature development for several years, and community involvement has declined significantly.

After December 15, 2022, the atom/atom repository and all other repositories in the Atom organization will be archived. Pre-built Atom binaries can still be downloaded, but package management will stop working, no more security updates will be provided, and Teletype will no longer function.
