TUIO is an open framework that provides a common protocol and API for tangible multitouch surfaces. It enables the transmission of abstract descriptions of interactive surfaces, including touch events and tangible object states. Based on Open Sound Control (OSC), TUIO allows rapid development of table-based tangible multitouch interfaces and has been widely adopted across various interactive environments. The protocol is licensed under LGPL and supported by a growing ecosystem of tracker applications and client libraries.
