Telegram is a cloud-based messenger with seamless sync, allowing you to access your messages from multiple devices simultaneously. Unlike WhatsApp, Telegram supports unlimited file sharing (up to 2 GB per file), needs less than 100 MB on your device, and offers end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls. Telegram is free with no ads or subscription fees, and its API is open for developers.

Telegram focuses on speed and security, using encryption and a multi-data center infrastructure. For extra privacy, you can use Secret Chats with self-destructing messages and lock your app with a passcode. Telegram's privacy policy prioritizes protecting your conversations and personal data from third parties.

Telegram is free and does not sell user data or show ads in private chats. Revenue comes from Sponsored Messages in public channels and a Premium subscription that unlocks exclusive features. Profit is not the primary goal; sustainability is prioritized to cover infrastructure and development costs.

You can report illegal content directly in the app by tapping the message and selecting 'Report' (Android) or pressing and holding the message (iOS/Desktop). Choose an appropriate reason, or email abuse@telegram.org with links to the content. EU users can also refer to the EU Digital Services Act for reporting options.

Secret Chats are device-specific conversations with end-to-end encryption. They support self-destructing messages, photos, and videos, and include screenshot alerts. These chats are not stored in the cloud and require both users to be online to exchange messages.

You can create a bot by interacting with the BotFather, Telegram's official bot for managing bots. BotFather helps you generate an API token, set a name and username, and configure basic settings. Bots can be used to automate tasks, integrate services, or accept payments.

To delete your account, go to 'Settings' > 'Privacy and Security' > 'Delete My Account.' You can choose to delete it immediately or after a set period of inactivity. Deleting your account will remove all your data from Telegram's servers.

You can hide your 'last seen' status by going to 'Settings' > 'Privacy and Security' > 'Last Seen & Online.' Here, you can choose who can see your 'last seen' status (Everyone, Contacts, or Nobody) or disable it entirely.
