TaxAct guarantees you'll receive your maximum refund when using their individual 1040 products. If another online tax preparation product gives you a larger refund or lower tax due using the same information, TaxAct will refund the applicable federal and/or state software purchase price paid.
TaxAct guarantees their software is 100% accurate and will calculate your maximum refund under applicable law. If a software error results in a smaller refund or higher tax liability, they will refund the software fees paid, cover the difference determined by the IRS, and pay penalties, interest, and legal costs up to $100,000 per customer.
For TaxAct online products, if you are dissatisfied before completing the billing steps, you can discontinue use. If you paid and cannot print or e-file (or your e-file was rejected), you must contact TaxAct within the calendar year of purchase to request a refund.
TaxAct Xpert Assist is an added service available for users of TaxAct’s online consumer and SMB 1120-S and 1065 products. It is available at an additional cost and includes a review of your return, though it has limitations and does not cover all tax topics or source documents.
The TaxAct Online Free Edition offers free federal filing for those who qualify based on income and deductions. For other products, you can start for free and only pay when you file. You won’t be charged if you stop using the product before printing or e-filing.
