A member school can request for a port or list of ports to be blocked by sending a request to the Service Desk at support@oar.net. The request must come from a listed contact at the school. In case of an emergency, you may call the Service Desk at 1-800-627-6420.
OARnet does not maintain a standard list of ports or IPs to block and does not make a practice of blocking traffic unless there is a service-impacting issue.
Yes, please inform OARnet about your maintenance. They will open a ticket in their tracking system and schedule downtime in their monitoring system if you provide a specific timeframe. This helps avoid unnecessary outage calls.
