Parents supervising Teen Accounts can see the topics their teen has asked Meta AI about in the last seven days through a new Insights tab within supervision, available both in-app and on the web.

The insights are currently available for parents supervising Teen Accounts in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and Brazil, with a global rollout planned in the coming weeks.

Parents can view topics ranging from School, Entertainment, and Lifestyle to Travel, Writing, and Health and Wellbeing, with further subcategories like fashion, food, fitness, and mental health.

Meta AI responses are inspired by 13+ movie ratings criteria and parent feedback, meaning it should not provide age-inappropriate responses. In some cases, it may direct teens to resources instead.

Yes, Meta is developing new alerts to notify parents if their teen engages in conversations related to suicide or self-harm with Meta AI, with more details to be shared soon.

Meta has worked with the Cyberbullying Research Center to develop open-ended conversation starters for parents, designed to help start non-judgmental discussions about AI with their teens. These are available on the Family Center website and through the Insights tab.

The council includes members from existing advisory groups like Suicide and Self-Harm Advisors, Youth Advisors, and Body Image Experts, as well as new experts in responsible AI from organizations like the National Council for Suicide Prevention and the University of Michigan.

Parents can set time limits, schedule breaks, and view who their teen has been chatting with in the past seven days, in addition to the new insights feature.
