About Ext2Fsd
Ext2Fsd is a free, open-source driver that enables Windows systems to read and write ext2, ext3, and ext4 Linux filesystems. It supports features like large inodes, htree directory indexing, and CIFS sharing, while offering compatibility with modern Linux filesystem tools. Use it with caution, as it may pose risks to data integrity in certain scenarios.
FAQ
Ext2Fsd 0.50 supports Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, and Win7 (both X86 and AMD64). Windows NT 4.0 is no longer supported.
To install Ext2Fsd 0.50, simply click the ext2fsd-0.50.exe file and follow the guided steps. Advanced users can also use setup.bat or manually edit the registry.
If you created a 'Ext2Fsd' group in your Start Menu, you can uninstall by clicking the 'Uninstall Ext2Fsd' link. Otherwise, use 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel.
Use the 'Ext2 Volume Manager' program. Right-click on the dialog list and select 'Change Drive Letter' to access the mount point dialog, where you can add, change, or remove drive letters.
Ensure the Ext2Fsd service is started via Ext2Mgr (Tools Menu -> Service Management -> Start Button). If the service is already running, try removing and reassigning the drive letter.
Right-click the Ext2/Ext3 partition or volume in the list, select 'Ext2 Management,' or double-click and choose 'Properties.' Apply changes, but note they won't persist after reboot in the current version.
Open 'Ext2 Volume Manager,' go to 'Tools' -> 'Service Management,' select 'SERVICE_SYSTEM_START,' and apply the changes. Click 'Start' to initiate the service, though this only starts it temporarily.
Vista's User Account Control (UAC) blocks Ext2Mgr from querying system configurations. Run Ext2Mgr as an administrator or disable UAC to resolve this issue.
