DNS stands for Domain Name System. It is an internet technology service that translates domain names into Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. For example, it maps human-readable names like www.dnsmadeeasy.com to machine-readable IP addresses like 192.168.98.2.

DNS changes are immediate once your domain is added to the nameservers. However, the actual propagation depends on the Time to Live (TTL) value set for your records. For static IPs, TTL values range from 12 hours (43200 seconds) to 24 hours (86400 seconds). For dynamic IPs, TTL values should be between 5 and 120 seconds.

Query overages are billed per million queries after exceeding your allotted DNS quota. Overage charges are $0.48 per million queries per month up to 1 billion queries and $0.20 per million queries per month after. All accounts have a 10% buffer before overage charges apply.

Yes, DNS Made Easy supports both IPv6 and DNSSEC. IPv6 addresses are available for nameservers, and AAAA records can be added via the web interface. DNSSEC support is available for enterprise-level memberships using the primary managed DNS service and for all clients using the secondary DNS service.

To cancel your account, delete the configured services and turn off the automatic renewal option. For permanent account closure, email sales@dnsmadeeasy.com.

DNS Made Easy accepts VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, check, ACH, and wire transfer. Automatic renewals can only be done using credit cards. Manual renewals via PayPal, check, ACH, or wire transfer incur a $35 administrative fee for invoices under $275.
