Preguntas frecuentes
StarWind VSAN is a software-defined storage solution that creates a fault-tolerant and high-performance storage pool by aggregating the storage resources of your servers. It uses synchronous replication to ensure data consistency across nodes. For detailed information, you can refer to the StarWind help page: https://www.starwindsoftware.com/help/
Detailed instructions for upgrading StarWind VSAN are provided in the following KB article: https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware.com/guidance/upgrading-from-any-starwind-version-to-any-starwind-version/
To avoid full synchronization after powering servers back on, follow these steps: shutdown VMs and services, ensure all StarWind HA devices are synchronized, activate Maintenance Mode for all HA devices, shut down the servers, then disable Maintenance Mode and restart services. Detailed steps are available here: https://knowledgebase.starwindsoftware.com/maintenance/how-to-restartshutdown-servers-with-starwind-vsan-installed/
If all nodes show 'Not Synchronized,' investigate Application logs to identify which node has the most recent data. If unsure, contact StarWind Support or stop the StarWind VSAN service on all nodes except the one with the most recent data, mark devices as Synchronized, and check data consistency. For more details, refer to the provided FAQ section.
Heartbeat is a mechanism used to prevent data corruption in case of synchronization channel failure. If data transfer fails, StarWind VSAN checks the secondary node's availability through an alternate network interface and marks it as Not Synchronized. More information is available here: https://www.starwindsoftware.com/help/StarWindFailoverStrategies.html
Select the corresponding device in the StarWind Management Console, then click 'Replication Node Interfaces' to edit the settings. Avoid deleting all interfaces at once or leaving all replication node interfaces down. Change IPs one by one on both sides.
The wizard reserves all IPs in the subnet to prevent misconfiguring HA by assigning Heartbeat and Synchronization Channel to the same data link. It is recommended to connect every data link to a dedicated subnet.
You can configure access rights and CHAP permissions for iSCSI targets in the StarWind Management Console. Detailed steps are available in the StarWind VSAN help: https://www.starwindsoftware.com/help/TheAccessRightsTaboftheManagementConsole.html and https://www.starwindsoftware.com/help/TheCHAPPermissionsTaboftheManagementConsole.html
